Creating a capsule
- From Home, choose Create a message to treasure.
- Select video or audio and allow camera or microphone access when asked.
- Record your message, review it, then add a title and the name you want shown.
- Save it on this phone, add it to the calendar or share it using the options shown.
The free allowance includes 10 locally created video or audio capsules of up to 30 seconds each. Received capsules do not use that allowance.
Scheduling a moment
Open Calendar, choose a date and time, then select the capsule you want to return. A calendar entry is a reminder on that phone; keep the app installed and allow notifications.
Private connections and messages
Open iluvu connections and connect two phones using the one-time QR code. The code expires after use. Each phone can choose its own private name for the connection.
Once connected, use iluvu messages to send private text messages or share a capsule. There is no public username, searchable profile or public feed.
Online sharing is protected by upload, storage and retention limits. See the Fair Use Policy for the current limits.
Notifications are not arriving
- Open your phone settings and confirm notifications are allowed for iluvu.
- Turn off battery restrictions that prevent iluvu receiving notifications in the background.
- Check that both phones are online, then reopen iluvu to refresh the inbox.
Unlocking and restoring
The £4.99 one-time purchase unlocks local video and audio capsule creation on the platform where it was purchased. It does not include unlimited online uploads or cloud storage. Apple and Google purchases are handled separately by their respective stores.
On iPhone or iPad, open the unlock screen and choose Restore Purchases while signed in with the Apple Account that made the purchase. Cloud backup is not included.
